All of the girls’ dresses I make are from recycled clothing. When I need fabric, I go down to my local thrift store and hand pick shirts to make into dresses. Many clothes makers give praise to new fabrics like organic cotton and bamboo, but the most environmentally savvy choice is the re-purposed clothing that I use. Upcycling the fabric requires nothing new to be produced, no waste to grow, no dye and no weaving of new fibers. The upcycled clothes makes my dresses extra soft, cozy, pre-shrunk and the most comfortable clothes your child will ever wear. Plus, no two dresses are alike, they are completely one of a kind!
My dresses are for the adventurous and stylish spirit. Each one is unique, chic, bold and fun.
I have always been a crafty, creative person. Ever since I can remember back to my childhood I’ve loved making things. Originally a portrait artist, I had my own business painting pet portraits. (www.thepaintedpet.com) After four fun and industrious years of painting it was time for a change. Instead of oil paints and paintbrushes in my studio the scenery turned to sewing machines and fabrics.
I welcome any questions, comments or feedback. ~Kayle
